30 MAY 2012 - Spinozzi Racing set to take on the best.

For the first time in the history of Spinozzi Racing, the team will contest the 2012 Fuchs Lubricants Winternationals. The team have contested the event before where they reset the B/GA Super Stock elapsed time record in 2010 with a time of 7.651 seconds.

Spinozzi Racing will field the team’s Terra Civil/Hitatchi Construction Machinery Pontiac GTO Pro Stocker.

The 2012 Winternationals, the biggest Drag Racing event outside of North America and is Australia’s equivalent of the NHRA’s MAC Tools U.S. Nationals is set to be contested Queen’s birthday long-weekend June 8 – 11, which is already a history making event, with 28 Pro Stock cars entered, making the event the largest Pro Stock event in ANDRA Pro Stock history.

Spinozzi Racing team have been very busy over the last few weeks in preparation for the event with the team testing the last three weekends in a row and will be again testing this weekend as a final warm up session before heading north next week to Willowbank Raceway, Ipswich, Queensland.

“To have 28 cars entered for the event is an awesome spectacle. Qualifying for the event will be no mean feat. The way that so many cars have stepped up over a period of the last three months is incredible,” said Emilio Spinozzi, team owner and driver.

To date the team’s personal best is elapsed time is 7.048 seconds in excess of 193MPH. Since Rino Conte team crew chief and owner of RC Performance Engines has refreshed the team’s power-plant the team have confidence that an illusive six second pass isn’t too far around the corner.

“Even though we may not have been the first to run a six second pass, Spinozzi Racing still has goals in site, one of them is to be standing in the winners circle Monday afternoon. For a Drag racer’s resume’ to be complete there needs to be two things mentioned, a Championship win and a Winternationals win,” said Spinozzi.
