12 MAR 2012 - Day of the Drags - Simply Awesome!
Last weekend saw perfect weather greet the hundres of Old School Racers and families for the 2012 Day of the Drags. This event really does bring us back to the grass rootes of Drag Racing with all sorts of action goin on around the venue over two great days!
![]() Steve Biggs in the near lane and Damien Kemp from Victoria would have to be the most travelled Drag Racers in the country showing up where ever there is a Nostalgia style meet, they don't care where it is as long as they can race their cars they are happy. |
![]() Steve Wright's Yellow Nova looked right at home on the Drag Strip and it goes as well as it looks running deep into the 11 second zone. |
![]() Geoff and Graham Blake's Dragsters always look the part even in the pit area .... |
![]() ... and this shows they not only look good but they can run hard as well with Geoff Blake banging out 6.5 second runs however a trip into the Sand Trap ended his day early! |
![]() AA Dave Armstrong got a handle on his Nitro Burning AA/FD running well into the sixes at over 220 mph! |
![]() Shane Ide got his blown Big Block Ford Coupe well into the nines with very stout 9.05 at over 150 mph!!! |
![]() The Cowin Family Racing Nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars driven by Daniel Schultz (57 Chev) and Shane Olive (Plymouth Satellite) made history with the first ever side by side 5 second pass in Australia! |
![]() Here's Norm Longfield with one of his trade mark "Peace Sign" burnouts in his AA/FD and he also went a 6.16 @ over 220 mph. |
![]() There was plenty to look at both on and off the track! .. |
![]() ... more bling ... |
![]() Noel Inman certainly does not take it easy on his T Model Center Door and that little the 302 Windsor pushes it to elevens at around 110 mph! |
![]() Peter Byrne took the controls of the Steve and Wendy Turner owned Black Widow AA/FD and went straight into the sixes with ease! |
![]() That's Steve Warren in there somewhere in his 383 ci Chevy powered Roadster! |
![]() The 48 Anglia of Tony Younis is one tough ride and proves the wheelie bars are not just for show! |
