Q. Where is Sydney Dragway located?
A. Sydney Dragway is located centrally in the Sydney Metropolitan area, just 32 kilometres west of the CBD, 12 kilometres west of the Parramatta CBD, 18 kilometres east of Penrith, 13 kilometres north-west of Liverpool, and 6 kilometres south-west of Blacktown, placing it at the heart of Sydney's population and closer to major population centres than any other track in the country. Within a 30 kilometre radius live 1.6 million people.
Q. Is there public transport to the venue?
A. There is public transport as far as the closest train stations – Blacktown and Rooty Hill. From there it’s a short taxi ride to the venue.
Q. Is there parking?
A. Yes, there is a free parking lot at Sydney Dragway. Additionally there is what is called “Convenience Parking” which allows you to park a little closer to the main spectator gate for a fee of $10 per day. Please note this is NOT secure parking.
Q. What is the best time to come?
A. Generally at major events the drag racing action kicks off at 8:30am. However Group One (Top Fuel, Top Alcohol, Top Doorslammer, Top Bike, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Bike) do not run until approximately 4pm in the afternoon. This may change at some events so it’s always best to check the schedule which appears on the website the week before the event.
Q. Which day is better?
A. It is a matter of preference, some fans like watching the qualifying day(s) as all vehicles come out to race in an effort to make it into Eliminations. Others prefer the thrill of the cut throat style of Eliminations when all races come to the line in a do or die effort to make it to the Final Round.
Q. Is there reserved seating?
A. No. The venue is an amphitheatre-style design with excellent views from all areas. The seating is made up of a combination of grass tiers, grassed steps and plastic seats.
Q. Is there any shade?
A. No, Sydney Dragway is an outdoor venue.
Q. Can I bring umbrellas and shade tents?
A. Yes, small shade tents and umbrellas are all OK. Please be aware of the spectators around you and try not to block their view. Shade tents and umbrellas are NOT allowed in the seated areas.
Q. Is it loud?
A. YES! If you don’t have your own ear plugs they can be purchased from the Sydney Dragway track shop. As well as your own ears, it is recommended that children’s ears be protected.
Q. Can I bring an esky?
A. Yes, you can bring your own lunch and drinks as long as drinks are in plastic containers. Sydney Dragway is a Government owned sporting complex therefore NO GLASS CONTAINERS may be brought into the venue.
Q. Can I bring alcohol?
A. No. Alcohol is not allowed to be brought into the venue.
Q. Can I bring a BBQ?
A. No, there is plenty of food outlets around the venue.
Q. Can I take photos/video?
A. Yes, hand held for personal use only, NO Tri Pods or Mono Pods allowed. The sale of images both still and video from Sydney Dragway without permission from the venue may lead to prosecution.
Q. Can I get into the pit area?
A. Absolutely! Drag racing is the only motorsport allowing spectators a close-up look at the vehicles and possibly a friendly chat and photo opportunity with the drivers and riders.
Q. Do I have to book a minimum number of VIP tickets?
A. No, individual tickets are available in the VIP marquee
Q. Can I buy a VIP ticket on the day?
A. No. VIP tickets need to be purchased before the event.
